Ingredients
Hard-Boiled Eggs
- 6 large eggs
- 1/4 tsp paprika
- 1/8 tsp ground turmeric
- 1/8 tsp freshly ground black pepper
- Pinch of salt, optional
- Ice and cold water, for ice bath
Equipment
- Saucepan or pot
- Slotted spoon

- Instant Pot with trivet, optional
Instructions
Stovetop Method
- Fill a saucepan with enough water to completely cover the eggs and bring the water to a full boil.
- Carefully lower the cold eggs into the boiling water using a slotted spoon.
- Reduce the heat slightly to maintain a gentle boil.
- Cook for 11–12 minutes for fully set hard-boiled eggs.
- Immediately transfer the eggs to a bowl of ice water.
- Let the eggs cool for 5–10 minutes.
- Gently tap each egg on the counter and roll it to crack the shell.
- Peel under cool running water if needed.
- Slice the eggs in half and sprinkle with paprika, turmeric, black pepper and optional salt.
Air Fryer Method
- Preheat the air fryer to 250°F, if your model requires preheating.
- Place the eggs directly into the air fryer basket, leaving a little space between them.
- Air fry for 15–17 minutes.
- Immediately transfer the eggs to an ice bath for 5–10 minutes.
- Peel, slice and season with paprika, turmeric, black pepper and optional salt.
Instant Pot Method — 5-5-5
- Pour 1 cup of water into the Instant Pot.
- Place the trivet inside and arrange the eggs on top.
- Seal the lid and cook on High Pressure for 5 minutes.
- Allow the pressure to naturally release for 5 minutes.
- Carefully release the remaining pressure.
- Transfer the eggs immediately to an ice bath for 5 minutes.
- Peel, slice and season.

Notes
- Air fryer temperatures can vary, so test one egg the first time you make them. You may need to adjust the cooking time by 1–2 minutes.
- For the easiest peeling, the Instant Pot is usually the most consistent method, but the stovetop method works extremely well when you place the eggs directly into already-boiling water.
- The ice bath is important. Rapidly cooling the eggs stops the cooking process and helps the egg pull away from the inner membrane.
- Slightly older eggs may peel more easily than extremely fresh eggs.
- Nutrition is approximate per egg. Paprika, turmeric and black pepper add negligible calories.
